How activation works

After purchase you receive a license key by email. In Illustrator, open Window ▸ Extensions ▸ NestPlug, expand the License card, paste the key, and click Activate. The license binds to that computer automatically. If the field reports a key as invalid, check for stray characters; keys look like NP-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.

One device at a time

Each license is active on one computer at a time. Reinstalling the software or the operating system on the same computer never costs an extra activation.

Moving to a new computer

Open the License card on the old machine and click Deactivate this device. The seat frees instantly and the key activates on the new machine. Replacing hardware (drive, logic board) is usually recognized automatically; if it isn’t, email legal@nestingplugin.com and we’ll move the seat for you.

Do I need to be online all the time?

No. You need internet once to activate, and then at least once every 14 days. A laptop that connects regularly will never notice. If a machine stays offline longer than 14 days, nesting and apply are paused with the message “You’ve been offline too long. Reconnect to the internet to continue.” Connect once and everything resumes automatically: no re-entering keys, nothing lost, no fee. Illustrator itself and all your artwork are completely unaffected.

What does the activation system know about my computer?

Only salted one-way hashes of device identifiers, computed on your machine; the identifiers themselves never leave it, and the hashes cannot be reversed. We never see your files, artwork, or usage. Details in the Privacy Policy.
